BUBBA'S SULKY LOUNGE is now a full time dance club with the infamous "80s Night w/ DJ Jon" on Fridays!
Jon has also launched "Everything Dance Party" on Saturdays, where you can hear new stuff as well.
When Bubba graduated from Portland High School, he went into the Marine Corp. After the Marine Corp he decided to open up his first bar which was on Lancaster Street the year of 1959 across the street from Cushman's bakery.
Bubba later moved from that location in 1961, without missing a beat to the business and opened up Bubba's Sulky Lounge on Portland Street.
Bubba's has been established and owned by Bubba for forty-seven years. In those forty-seven years Bubba's has become one of the hot spots in the city of Portland for night life entertainment, salsa to rock 'n roll.
Bubba's Sulky Lounge consists of two bars and two dance floors. One of the dance floors is lit up to the beat of disco, in the style of the 70's and 80's. Three cosy fireplaces and the main bar is nestled in the center of the room surrounded by an antique parlor with Ma and Pa settled on the sofa, waiting to have their picture taken with the patrons.
Everywhere you look, you are surrounded by antiques, one of Bubba's favorite hobbies along with his race horses. Bubba's Sulky Lounge has been around for long enough that Bubba is often referred to as the mayor of Portland Street.
